Adventure: Salkantay Trek (5D / 4N full)

The mountains of the Vilcanota range rise forming a spectacular chain, located between two great rivers of the Cusco region, Urubamba and Apurimac along the north side of the mountain range.
The location of the Salkantay snow-capped mountain is at the eastern end of the chain and has an altitude of approximately 6,270 meters above sea level.
Mollepata is an attractive town built on a mountainside in the upper Apurimac. Crossing this mountain, we reach the Urubamba River valley, to enter the lost city of the Incas Machupicchu.

Day 1: Cusco - Soroycocha (AL, CE)
The adventure will begin with the pick up at your hotel at 4:30 A.M. then continue the journey by road to the town of Mollepata, visit the archaeological complex of Tarawasi, then arrive by bus to Mollepata where you will visit the surroundings, at an appointed time will continue the journey to Soraypampa, then prepare to ascend to the Humantay lagoon, one of the most beautiful of Cusco, then descend to Soyapampa (lunch), in the afternoon will continue to climb to Soroycocha camping, where you can dine and rest. Start of hike altitude 3,900 (m.a.s.l.) End of hike 3,800 (m.a.s.l.)
Day 2: Soroycocha - Colcapampa (DE, AL, CE)
After breakfast you will begin the hike uphill for 1:30 hours to the Soroycocha pass, then descend to the Huayraqmachay community (lunch), at an indicated time you will continue the journey to Colcapampa camp. This day the hike will be downhill, where you can appreciate a typical Andean flora, optionally you can use the hot springs of Colcapampa. Camp. Start of hike altitude 3,800 (m.a.s.l.) End of hike 2,900 (m.a.s.l.)
Day 3: Colcapampa - Beach (DE, AL, CE)
This day the hike will be downhill, the weather will vary because you will be entering a jungle where you can appreciate a very dense vegetation, large waterfalls of approximately 80 meters, orchids, (camping) on the beach. Start of hike altitude 3,900 (m.a.s.l.) End of hike 2,400 (m.a.s.l.)
Day 4: Beach - Llactapata - Aguas Calientes (DE, AL)
Very early in the morning you will start the ascent through an Inca trail to the archaeological complex of Llactapata, from this area you will be able to appreciate a part of Machupicchu and the mountains of the jungle, then you will descend to the sector of Hidroeléctrica (lunch), at an indicated time you will take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes. You will be accommodated at the hotel. Beginning of hike altitude 2,400 (m.a.s.l.) End of hike 2,050 (m.a.s.l.)
Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco (DE)
Early in the morning you will board the buses to Machupicchu citadel. The guide will explain for a period of 2 hours everything about the citadel, then you can stay as long as you want in the citadel. At an indicated time you will board the bus to Aguas Calientes and then the train to Ollantaytambo where our driver will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel in Cusco. Beginning of hike altitude 2,050 (m.a.s.l.) End of hike 2,400 (m.a.s.l.)

Before traveling:

  • Salkantay is a cold and warm area and in the bag or sports bag where you will put your change of clothes for the 5 days, you must have the important things, personal hygiene, brush, sandals, extra change of clothes, toilet paper, wet towels, mosquito repellent.
  • We must have a good preparation and physical activity to complete the hiking trails, since we walk an average of six to seven hours per day.
